Coffee with Ha Lee

Joining us this week is Ha Lee from Vietnam. Here she reflects on her experiences studying Business and Management at Oxford Brookes University and looks to the future.

How would you sum up your study experience?

It was intense, full of knowledge and diversified.

Can you give us a “top 3” for Oxford Brookes University?

  1. Not just knowledge, the professors also taught us the necessary corporate etiquette and manners.
  2. Great networking opportunities.
  3. Brilliant environment for self-learning, experimenting and exploring other study areas.

What advice would you give to someone starting your course?

Prepare to read a lot, try to search for a mentor in your final year and apply for an internship to expose yourself to a real working environment.

Did you find it easy to find employment?

I took the time to evaluate myself, my skills and level of readiness. After the first job which I needed a lot of training, all the other jobs came seamlessly without me applying for them.

What is your job now?

Marketing Specialist and Consultant for Google in Singapore.

How did you get from your institution to where you are now?

Learning in the university taught me to be independent, determined, strong-willed and never fear of failures.

Describe a typical day in three words?

  1. Meaningful,
  2. Impactful,
  3. Crazy.

Have you been affected by COVID-19?

Yes, I have.

What have you learnt about yourself?

I can be iron-tough yet flexible if I want to. I went through several economic crises and stood shoulder to shoulder with my peers to get through the storms.

I’ve learnt i’m more people-centric. I really care for the people I work with. I’ve learnt to prioritize my life and work much better than I did 16 years ago.

Three words to describe your life during this time?

  1. Recovery,
  2. Fast-moving,
  3. Tireless.

What about the future?

I will keep moving fast, making critical decisions, building more businesses and generating a bigger impact to my country and communities.

What positives can be taken from the changes in our lives?

We realize what really matters to us and place more focus on that.

Thank you Ha Lee for dropping by!
